As the Hebden 401 is quite light, it is very easy to install and can be laid at the rate of around 100m2 per person per hour.
Its modular grid system makes it easy to fit and allows rainwater to filter back to the water table, making it perfect for incorporating into SUDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems) strategies.

The installation guidelines below are suitable for most applications. If in doubt, feel free to ask us.
Mark out the area to be covered with the Hebden 401s adding around 15cm extra all around. Excavate the full marked area to the following depth below the required top surface.
With the full area excavated, compact the whole area and install a permanent perimeter fringe at the points that vehicles access the paving.
The support layer of Granular Class A Crush and Run (to within 8 to 10cm Grade) can be placed on top of this compacted area to a depth of the following:
This leaves a remaining depth of 6cm for the sand and the Hebden 401 pavers. Compact the crush and run and then put a 2cm thick layer of sand on top. The sand needs to be levelled accurately with a spirit level and smoothed down. When the finished area is to be grassed over we recommend the sand be replaced with a sieved 50/50 mix of sand and compost to ensure a suitable quick draining root area is created.
Interlock and set the Hebden 401s in straight lines and ensure that they are all going in the same direction. Any Hebden 401s needing cutting should be measured and cut with a saw before attempting installation with the Hebden 401 being cut to leave solid enclosed chambers on the edge wherever possible. With all the Hebden 40s in the correct position slightly compact them onto the sand and ensure they remain flat and level. If the ground is sloping, we recommend the top edge pavers be further held with 3 stakes per meter at this stage.
The Hebden 401s can now be filled with the required medium of either gravel or a mixture of sand and compost with grass seed sown in. We recommend 20mm gravel chippings, as these are less likely to migrate in tyre treads, and also provide strength and stability to the pavers.
